🛁 Bathroom board
Bathroom Board and Tile Backer Board for Shower Walls
Standard moisture-resistant gypsum board (MR gypsum) is often used in bathrooms, but it is not suitable for direct shower splash zones or floor applications. Terasun TSM cement board is classified EN 12467 Category A — the highest moisture classification — and does not degrade, swell, or develop mould in persistently wet bathroom conditions.
Application
Cement board substrate for bathroom tile walls, shower enclosures, and moisture-exposed wall and floor applications.

Why use TSM as a bathroom tile backer board
Superior to MR gypsum — does not degrade in bathroom splash zones
EN 12467 Category A moisture classification
No mould risk — inorganic cement composition
High impact resistance for towel rail and fixture fixings
Suitable as shower enclosure tile backer with waterproof membrane
Approved in Mapei and Schönox bathroom system specifications
For shower enclosures where direct water contact occurs, a waterproof tanking membrane (liquid-applied or sheet) must be applied over the cement board before tiling. The board + membrane + tile system provides full waterproofing — the board alone is moisture resistant but not waterproof.
