Terasun TSM — Cement board for wet rooms
🚿 Cement board for wet rooms
Cement Board for Wet Rooms and Shower Enclosures
Terasun TSM cement board is approved as a tile backing substrate in Mapei and Schönox wet room systems. The board itself provides moisture resistance (EN 12467 Category A) — it does not absorb water or degrade in persistently wet conditions. However, the board is not a waterproof barrier on its own: a waterproof tanking membrane must be applied over the board before tiling in shower and wet room applications.
Application
Moisture-resistant cement board substrate for wet rooms, shower enclosures, and water-exposed tile applications.

Wet room performance characteristics
EN 12467 Category A — highest moisture classification for cement boards
Approved substrate in Mapei and Schönox wet room tile systems
Dimensionally stable — no swelling or warping in persistently wet conditions
Suitable for shower enclosures, wet room floors, and bathroom walls
Low mould risk — inorganic cement matrix provides no food for biological growth
Must be used with an approved waterproof tanking membrane before tiling
In wet room floor applications, TSM cement board over a concrete screed provides a stable, non-swelling substrate for the tanking membrane and tile finish. Unlike timber substrates or gypsum board, cement board does not flex, swell, or promote mould growth when exposed to persistent moisture.
